WHAT THE POLITICIANS SAY

David Heathcoat-Amory MP (Con) has stated that he will ensure the interests of WEPG will be fully represented at Somerset County Council when WP2's planning application is submitted.

The following politicians/concillors/candidates are all opposed to the proposed pyrolysis plant at Haybridge:

Tessa Munt (Lib Dem) Tessa is an avid supporter of WEPG's cause and has publicly spoken out at meetings. She given us much assistance and will continue to do so.

Ron Forrest, Somerset County Councillor (Con) "I pledge total opposition to the application for a pyrolysis plant at Haybridge."

Theo Butt-Philip (Lib Dem) "I am opposed to the proposed pyrolysis project at Haybridge."

Colin Price, Wells City Council (Lab) He has stated that is is firmly against this type of facility.

William Roberts (Lab) "… the technology is not yet proven safe, and its introduction at Haybridge would thus pose an unsatisfactory risk to local residents. Furthermore, there are far better alternatives to waste management than incineration, and I would like to see Somerset County Council doing more still to promote the recycling of both household and commercial waste."

John Osman, Mendip and Somerset County Councillor (Con) "I support the views of the residents of Haybridge who are rightly concerned about this experimental power station being built in our locality ... I remain unconvinced that the emissions from this power station will not have a detrimental effect on the residents of Haybridge and of Wells."
